Jaideep Ahlawat with Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of KBC 17
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat took to the hotseat of Amitabh Bachchan-hosted show Kaun Banega Crorepati along with Manoj Bajpayee and Sharib Hashmi. On the show, Jaideep revealed his pre-existing connection with the Bachchan family. The talented actor shared that he already felt a bond as he graduated from the same institute where Jaya Bachchan once studied.
Jaideep Ahlawat says, "I may be meeting you today for the first time, sir, but in a way my connection with your family is very old⦠because I am a pass-out from the same institute that Jaya ji passed out from." He goes on to describe how stories of Jaya Bachchan's student days became an integral part of the institute's culture. Jaideep recalls seniors sharing incidents where Jaya ji and her group would sit in the old canteen and how students would keep returning there just to soak in those memories.
"People went there to study⦠we went there to listen," Amitabh Bachchan adds with a smile.
Manoj Bajpayee steps in to highlight the legacy of Jaideep's own graduating class. Manoj says, "Jaideep's batch is considered the golden batch of the institute - Vijay Varma was in that batch, Rajkummar Rao was in that batch, Sunny Hinduja, Jatin Goswami⦠so many talented artists came from that one batch."
Resurfacing a memory that goes back decades, Jaideep, who appeared on the quiz reality game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, revealed, "Growing up, whenever a baby was born in my village, the celebrations always included screening your films: Deewar, Zanjeer, and Don. Because of this tradition, I must have seen each of those movies well over a hundred times.
He added, "Separately, the audio cassette of Sholay was an integral part of our festivities. Every major holiday - Holi, Diwali, and others - we would gather, and the entire village would listen keenly to the movie's soundtrack and dialogue, playing the full cassette from start to finish." An overwhelmed Amitabh Bachchan was seen expressing his gratitude to Jaideep and all his fans for loving him so much.
The episode witnesses touching moments of film-school memories, artistic lineage, and the deep admiration that India's finest actors hold for the Bachchan family. Catch Kaun Banega Crorepati every Monday to Friday at 9:00 PM on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
