Sunil Pal has questioned Amitabh Bachchan and the makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati over the decision to invite stand-up comedians to the popular quiz show. The comedian took to social media to express his displeasure after Gaurav Kapoor, Gaurav Gupta and writer-comedian Varun Grover were spotted on the sets of the ongoing 18th season.
While Sunil did not name anyone in his video, his remarks appeared to be aimed at the comedians spotted on the KBC sets. He referred to them as people who use "gaali galoch" and questioned why the makers were giving such performers a platform on a family-oriented show.
Addressing the KBC team, Sunil said that he had been asking the makers for a long time not to invite people associated with abusive language. He then directly addressed Amitabh, reminding him that the show is watched by audiences across age groups, including children.
"Aapka show Bachchan sahab bachchan bachchan dekhte hain, budhe bujurg to dekhte hi hain, bachchan bhi dekhte hain. Un bachchan ka to sochiye," he said, urging the veteran actor and the makers to consider the impact of their guest choices on younger viewers.
Sunil went on to draw a comparison with the format of the quiz show. He pointed out that contestants face 14 questions on KBC, before suggesting that the 15th question could come from the public for the host and the makers. "KBC mein 14 sawaal karte ho, 15th sawaal duniya aapse karegi," he said.
The comedian then questioned whether Amitabh, despite being such an established actor, should rely on such personalities to run the show. "Kya aap itne bade kalakar ab inke bharose apna show chalayenge?" he asked.
His comments come after Gaurav Kapoor and Gaurav Gupta were spotted on the sets of KBC 18, alongside Varun Grover. Their appearances have sparked curiosity about their participation in upcoming episodes of the show.
This is not the first time Sunil has criticised KBC over the comedians associated with the programme. He had earlier raised objections to comedians such as Samay Raina being given a platform on mainstream shows. He had also questioned the presence of comedians known for controversial or abusive content on programmes such as KBC and Bigg Boss.
Meanwhile, KBC 18, hosted by Amitabh, continues to air with the season's "Sochna Padega" theme, combining challenging questions with contestants' personal stories.
