Roadies Rebirth could soon make the jump from television to streaming, with Netflix reportedly striking a deal worth around Rs 18 crore to acquire the popular reality show from JioHotstar.
According to a report by The Ken, as quoted by Indiantelevision.com, Netflix is set to acquire the show in a deal estimated at Rs 18 crore. However, neither Netflix nor JioHotstar has officially confirmed the reported agreement yet. If finalised, the move would mark another significant step in Netflix's growing focus on established Indian television properties and reality programming.
The reported deal comes shortly after Netflix secured the rights to MTV Hustle Season 5. That agreement was reportedly valued at Rs 13 crore, signalling the streaming platform's increasing interest in popular MTV franchises. Hustle 5 - Apna Homeground features Badshah, Ikka, Agsy, MC Square, and Paradox with Samarth Jurel serving as the host. The season premiered on Netflix in August alongside its television run on MTV India and availability on JioHotstar.
Roadies Rebirth, meanwhile, has a much longer legacy on Indian television. The reality show has been entertaining audiences for more than two decades and has evolved considerably since its early seasons. What began as an adventure-based youth-oriented programme gradually transformed into a format built around auditions, contestants, gang leaders, rivalries, tasks and controversies.
Over the years, the show has been associated with several popular names from the entertainment industry, including Rannvijay Singha, Neha Dhupia, Prince Narula, Rhea Chakraborty and Elvish Yadav. Its gang leaders and contestants have frequently become talking points, helping the franchise maintain its relevance among younger viewers.
If the reported Netflix acquisition goes through, Roadies would join a growing list of established television properties making their way to streaming platforms. The move could also give the franchise access to a wider digital audience while offering Netflix another high-profile Indian reality title.
At present, details regarding which seasons would be available on Netflix, whether new episodes would stream simultaneously with television, and whether the show would continue airing on MTV remain unclear.
For now, viewers will have to wait for an official announcement from Netflix or JioHotstar before the reported Rs 18 crore deal can be confirmed.
