Actor Sorab Bedi has responded to the backlash surrounding his recent interview about the death of his Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi co-star Sanchita Ugale, after clips from the interaction went viral on social media. The actor shared a clarification video, stating that his remarks had been taken out of context and insisting that he never intended to appear insensitive while speaking about the late actress.
In the video, Sorab addressed the criticism directly and said, "Itna bedil main bhi nahi hoon," expressing disappointment over the way portions of the interview were being circulated online. He explained that he had spoken about Sanchita from a place of grief and concern, having known her personally and worked closely with her.
The controversy erupted after snippets from his interview gained traction online, prompting several social media users to accuse him of being insensitive while discussing the tragedy. Responding to the allegations, Sorab clarified that the viral clips did not present the complete conversation and that his words were being interpreted incorrectly.
Sorab reiterated that he was deeply affected by Sanchita's passing and had only shared details of their last interaction to highlight how unexpected the news was for those who knew her. Earlier, the actor had revealed that he had spoken to Sanchita just two days before her death and recalled that she seemed troubled at the time. He also mentioned that the two had been planning to meet soon.
In his clarification, Sorab urged people not to judge him based on short viral clips. "Please watch the entire interview before forming an opinion," he said, adding that he has immense respect for Sanchita and her family.
Sanchita Ugale, known for her work in shows such as Kumkum Bhagya, Wagle Ki Duniya, Chhaava and Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi, died by suicide on June 14. Her death has left the television industry in shock, with colleagues and fans continuing to mourn her loss.
