Sourav Ganguly has stepped into a new role with Bigg Boss Bangla Season 3, taking charge of the reality show's weekend episodes after spending nearly a decade as the host of Dadagiri Unlimited. With Salman Khan having become synonymous with the Hindi version of Bigg Boss, Ganguly was asked whether he studied the superstar's hosting style before taking on the Bengali edition.

However, the former Indian cricketer made it clear that he has no plans to replicate Salman's approach. Speaking to Variety India, Ganguly said, "He has his own way, he's different. Sourav Ganguly cannot do the same thing as Salman Khan." He added, "We are different people with different personalities. He hosts in his way, and I will do it my way."

Ganguly pointed out that every host brings a distinct personality to the Bigg Boss format. While Salman has hosted the Hindi edition's Weekend Ka Vaar for several years, Ganguly will bring his own style to Bigg Boss Bangla's weekend segment, titled Dadar Dorbar.

Despite being familiar with Salman's work on the reality show, Ganguly revealed that his interaction with the actor has been limited. He said that he has met Salman only once, at a function in Kolkata. "I've never interacted with him on the ‘Bigg Boss' set, although I've seen him host," he said.

Ganguly also opened up about what made him accept the offer to host Bigg Boss Bangla. The former cricketer admitted that it took him some time to say yes, considering he had been associated with Dadagiri Unlimited for the past 10 years. After hosting the quiz-based reality show for a decade, he felt it was time to take on something different.

"It took me a little time to agree because I was hosting a different show for the last 10 years," Ganguly said. Explaining his decision, he added that the new show was a good opportunity to work with the same broadcaster after his long association with them through cricket.

All about Bigg Boss Bangla 3

Bigg Boss Bangla Season 3 premiered on August 30, marking the franchise's return after a 10-year hiatus. Ganguly's entry as the host has also brought a fresh dynamic to the Bengali edition, with the former India captain now addressing contestants and their equations during Dadar Dorbar.

Rather than attempting to follow an established template, Ganguly appears keen to make the show his own, drawing on his experience in television and his distinctive public persona. Salman Khan is currently hosting Bigg Boss 20.
