Sunil Pal and Kapil Sharma
Comedian Sunil Pal rose to fame with his craft in the early 2000s, long before stand-up comedy became mainstream in India. He was the first winner of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Over the years, many comedians have come into the spotlight. Now, Pal largely makes headlines for his comments on fellow comedians. While he usually doesn't say very flattering things about others, he recently called himself a fan of Kapil Sharma. However, he also took a dig at his show, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
Speaking on the podcast Meri Saheli, Sunil talked about his equation with Kapil Sharma. "I don't have any issues with Kapil Sharma. In fact, I am a huge fan. Kapil has been running his show for over 12 years now. He has been doing a great job and always ensures his friends grow as well. He is the highest-paid comedian in the world.
Sunil said that Kapil has invited him to his show multiple times but he has never visited him there. Talking about not going on the widely popular show, Sunil said, "Woh mujhe kayi baar bolta hai, mere set pe aaya karo, mila karo mujhse. Bahut pyaar karta hai, maanta hai mujhe. Lekin main kehta hoon woh mujhe maanta hai, voh uski mahanta hai. Main tabhi jaaunga jab usko lagega Sunil Pal ke liye sach mein kaam hai. Varna uske yahan toh langar laga rehta hai. Aadha Punjab wahan par baitha hai (In fact, he has invited me to his set multiple times. He often tells me, âPlease come to the set and meet me.' He respects and loves me a lot. But I believe that is his greatness. I will only go when there is genuine work for me. Otherwise, there is practically a langar on his show - half of Punjab is sitting there)."
Earlier, in an interview with Telly Talk, Sunil Pal also commented on Sunil Grover. "Sunil Grover bahut purana lag raha hai. Wahi cheezein, ghisi-piti cheezein⦠hasi nahi aati. Baar-baar actor ke godh mein jaake baith jaana ladki banke, ghin aati hai! Phir woh ladkiyon ke naam pe kapde pehenke vulgar baatein karna, aur phir baar-baar award functions mein jaake bolna, âAaj mujhe pata chala santre khaye bhi jaate hain.' Sunil Grover ab jo bhi kare, accha kare, lekin logon ko gyaan na baate (Sunil Grover now seems outdated. The same old things again and again⦠they don't make people laugh. Repeatedly sitting on an actor's lap dressed as a woman feels distasteful. Wearing women's clothes and making vulgar comments, and then saying things like âToday I learned that oranges can also be eaten' at award functions - he should just focus on doing good work and avoid preaching to people)."
