Harry Potter series trailer: Our favourite trio are back as the gates of Hogwarts reopen

September 1st has arrived, and you know what that means: it's time to return to Hogwarts. After giving us an early glimpse back in March, HBO has finally dropped the full trailer for its much-awaited Harry Potter series- and this time, there's a lot more to see.

Harry Potter trailer takes fans back to Hogwarts

The new trailer feels bigger, bolder and more expansive. While the earlier teaser reminded us why we fell in love with the wizarding world in the first place, this latest look goes deeper. We get glimpses of familiar characters, forgotten corners of the magical world, stunning locations, and of course, Potion class. And then there's Hans Zimmer's new score, which gives the entire trailer a completely different vibe and makes the return to Hogwarts feel even more exciting and magical.

The official synopsis for Harry Potter reads, "An orphan boy, mistreated by his relatives, discovers he's a wizard. He receives a letter to attend Hogwarts School, where he finds friendship, magic, and adventure - finally discovering the home and love he was always meant to have."

Who all stars in Harry Potter?

The new Harry Potter series features Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The Weasley family is led by Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, with Tristan Harland, Gabriel Harland, Ruari Spooner, and Gracie Cochrane appearing as Fred, George, Percy, and Ginny Weasley.

The Hogwarts student lineup also features Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley. Additional cast members include Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, and Leigh Gill as Griphook.

The cast also brings in Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, and Leigh Gill as Griphook.

The new Harry Potter series is slated to premiere on December 25, 2026, on HBO.
