Panchayat season 5, starring Jitendra Kumar in the lead, is one of the most-awaited shows yet to stream on OTT. The series has built a loyal fan base over the years with its gripping characters, understated comedy and the everyday chaos of Phulera life. While an official date has not been revealed yet, the show's director Deepak Kumar Mishra has shared a new update on Panchayat 5, including when the season is likely to premiere.
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Deepak Kumar Mishra said, "The editing process is currently underway. The exact release date has not been finalised yet. It could be around October or November."
The filmmaker shared more interesting details about the new season and said, "Sabki zindagi aage badhegi. Elections toh ho gaye. Pradhan Ji haar gaye. But uske aage zindagi unki kaise aage badh rahi hai, baaki characters ki zindagi aage kaise badh rahi hai. Ek haara hua Pradhan kaise ab gaon mein chalta hai, phirta hai, kya karta hai (Everyone's lives will move forward. The elections are over. Pradhan Ji has lost. But the story will explore how his life moves forward after that, and how the lives of the other characters progress as well. How does a Pradhan who has lost an election move around the village now? What does he do)?"
Mishra was also questioned whether Panchayat season 5 could mark the end of the beloved series. Addressing the ongoing speculation, the director gave a straightforward answer: "Nahi, aisa kuch nahi hai (No, it's nothing like that)."
Backed by The Viral Fever (TVF) and helmed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, Panchayat was released digitally in 2020. The series follows Abhishek Tripathi, essayed by Jitendra Kumar, a postgraduate who becomes the secretary of a gram panchayat in the village named Phulera.
The cast includes Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Chandan Roy, Faisal Malik, Sanvikaa, Durgesh Kumar, Ashok Pathak, Sunita Rajwar and Pankaj Jha in key roles.
