International Beer Day

USB Can Cooler
Say hello to your new workstation companion. The cutesy mini fridge that can hold a 300 ml can, comes with an in-built cooling plate and a wire that needs to be plugged into the USB port of your laptop or a PC. As soon as we plugged it in, a yellow LED light flashed in the fridge. We put in a lukewarm drink and about 15 minutes later, it was cool enough for a sip, though not ice cold.
Cost: Rs 1,950

Spin Chill
A portable drink chiller, which runs on four AA batteries, is perfect for an impromptu house party. Place a can or bottle in an ice bucket (we tried it in a bowl) and cap it with the rubber part of the pump-like accessory. When you switch it on, it whirs to increase heat transfer between the beverage and ice, chilling your can in a minute. A pint takes about three minutes, while a bottle, about five.
COST Rs 2,990

Sonic Foamer
Though the contraption impressed Jay Leno when it was featured on his show, our tryst with the Sonic Foamer was a downer. Working on six AA batteries, it uses ultrasonic vibrations to create a thick, foamy head for the beer. However, in our trial, we only found a few bubbles rising from the bottom. Using a craft beer may be a better bet, but wouldn't you just head to a pub instead?
Cost Rs 3,750
Available at: The Beer Cafe, Maharshi Karve Marg, Churchgate.

Chill Puck
While we love quirky beer coasters, these ones are functional too. We chilled the pucks in a freezer for about two hours and at a drinking session, put them out for friends to cool their cans. The drinks stayed cold for about an hour.
COST: Rs 1,190
