From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Gujarat to West Bengal, 12,000 employees from the corporate world took part in a unique photo exhibition, now on  display in the city

Employees from 22 corporate organisations will showcase their photography skills in a unique photo exhibition, starting this Saturday, at the Coomaraswamy Hall inside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya.

The two-day exhibition will showcase 250 photographs, shortlisted from a pan-India contest, Corporate Photography Contest - 2014, where over 12,000 employees from banking, pharmaceuticals, IT and other sectors participated. "We received over 15,000 entries from corporate employees across India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and Gujarat to West Bengal," informs Tarun Kumar, founder of the Indian Photography Edition, which organised the competition.

The aim was to not only promote photography as an art form at the workplace, but to also help employees de-stress using the visual medium, and provide a platform where they could engage with each other. "One faces tense situations at the workplace, so it's crucial to take up a de-stressing hobby. Photography helps one to relax. As it is, we often wait for the right moment to take the right picture, and that is calming. Many in the corporate sector are enthusiastic about photography. They are good at it, but never get to display their works as part of a public exhibition.

We wanted to bring them together under one roof, and display their works to the public," reasons Kumar.

The team at the Indian Photography Edition shortlisted 15 finalists in five categories including wildlife, nature,
culture and portraits, with help from fashion photographer, Himanshu Shetty. "Even he was surprised with the quality of the photos, many of whom are taken using a simple point and shoot camera," adds Kumar.

ON March 22, 2 pm to 7 pm and March 23, 10 am to 7 pm
