If you are looking for ways to help canines on the street, then sign up for this first-aid workshop, organised by the Welfare of Stray Dogs (WSD). The half-day interactive session will train you in emergency care of strays, who, unlike pets, have limited access to medical help.

Abodh Aras, chief executive officer of the non-profit trust, says that they have been running the workshops for the past 14 years. "The aim is to let people gain a basic understanding of the diseases and problems canines face and what they can do to handle emergencies such as poisoning, burns and bleeding till a veterinarian or an NGO member arrives," he explains.

Aras, along with veterinarian Karishma Gupte, will conduct the workshop for 60 participants who might go through prior registration. Post the event, attendants can provide support by enrolling as volunteers with the organisation if they wish.
