The festival is being observed from 10:54 pm on October 9 to 7:38 pm on October 10 by women across the country.

The important aspect of the festival is that the fast is broken after the sighting of the moon, which holds a vital role in the day's ritual.

Moonrise time
While the fasting time for today is between 6:19 am and 8:13 pm, according to various sources, these are the timings for moonrise today.

Moonset: 9:42 am
Moonrise: 8:55 pm

The sun is expected to set by 6:19 pm. While this is an approximate time, women can keep an eye out for the moon from 8:30 pm.

Fasting food
When the fast is broken, it is advisable to drink water or milk, followed by fruits or nuts, and other simple Indian food like dal or khichdi, but if you want to innovate and celebrate with your husband, you can also add a variety of twists to the classic dishes.
