Preparations were in full swing in Ranchi for the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and the fair to be held on the occasion, officials said on Sunday.
A high-level meeting was chaired by ADG (Headquarters) Manoj Kaushik, who reviewed security and logistical arrangements with district police officials and members of the Jagannath Temple managing committee for the festival on July 16.
"Today, we held a meeting with members of the Jagannath Temple managing committee and discussed security arrangements and assessed preparations for the peaceful, safe and well-organised Rath Yatra," Kaushik told reporters.
The meeting reviewed law and order, traffic management, crowd control, emergency response measures and the responsibilities of the temple committee, he said.
Kaushik said the administration has decided to sanitise and barricade the Rath Yatra route to prevent any untoward incidents. Additional security personnel will be deployed, with special focus on the safety of women and children.
"CCTV and drone cameras will also be used to keep vigil on the movements of devotees," he said.
The temple management has been directed to ensure optimum deployment of volunteers, while officials have been asked to complete all preparations well before the festival.
Describing the Jagannathpur annual fair as an event of immense religious and cultural significance for the state, Kaushik said all departments have been instructed to work in close coordination
