His socio-realistic oeuvre has always cast a spell due to an all-round impact right from the selection of actors to still-giving gooseflesh soundtracks.

Now, watch an exhibition at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) curated especially on the figure of this Kolkata immigrant that will include film posters, photographs, costumes, legal documents (contracts), now extinct song books along with the Arriflex camera with which he shot Bandini.

The Bimal Roy exhibition will display the socialistic vein of his films highlighting his empathy for the less privileged and a Bombay of bygone eras.

Adding weight to this event, CSMVS will also host talks, film appreciation workshops, and theatre workshops along with a musical evening especially dedicated to the songs from his films. Critically acclaimed director Hansal Mehta will inaugurate the exhibition preceded by the screening of Nasreen Munni Kabir's film, Silent Thunder: Bimal Roy.
