Later, through other performances he managed to elicit constant giggles (we especially remember him as the loveable jock in QTP's Nostalgia Brand Chewing Gum). 20-year-old Karan Pandit is steadfastly gaining stage time on the Mumbai theatre circuit. With Akvarious Production's What The Butler Saw, written by Joe Orton, he takes on the protagonist's role yet again. We get the young actor to tell us about his character:

"Firstly, he's a psychiatrist, Dr Prentice, and the play is, essentially, about him trying to seduce his secretary. He even manages to get her undressed for the job interview, but then his wife walks in. The play is a British farce so it's supposed to be a laugh riot.

For the majority of the play, my character is just trying to save his a''. He begins with one lie, then tells another to keep up with the first and so on. So essentially, I play a psychiatrist stuck in a circle of lies, who gets stuck and has to come clean.

What The Butler Saw is one of the best scripts I've ever read. The writing is outstanding. While the play has elements of buggery, sexuality and cross-dressing, it has no bad language. It's an intelligently written play and the treatment of characters is great."
