A matter of concept

Sure, all of us want functional and practical gadgets, but how about something that makes you dream?

Sure, all of us want functional and practical gadgets, but how about something that makes you dream?

If you want to look at feature creep, look at the mobile. It first started out as a way of allowing you to speak when you are on the road. Then people got SMS, MMS, Internet browsing, camera, radio, and yes, even flashlights on the mobile. Just what is it today that a modern high-end mobile doesn't have, apart from the kitchen sink? Answer: A hologram projector like the ones you see in those cool Star Wars movies.

But from the looks of it, something like that is not too far into the future. Here we have for you some concept products. Some are just that concepts. But some others may soon be yours to own. While only time can tell what will ultimately happen, for now, we can always fantasise about how life would be when we get something like this on our hands!

Rounding data: This is a router, so maybe only your system administrator will be interested in it. It will show the strength of the connection across a 24 hour period. So, you know when the connection is fastest and can schedule certain tasks (like updating ant viruses or downloading large files) at a time when the connection is strongest.

Pedal power with a difference: Boss, what is the tech angle? Why is IT ADDA featuring a mere cycle? This one can play music and has fingerprint recognition, so only the owner can ride it. Also, the bike is made of carbon fibre and has puncture-proof tires. Olympic cyclist Chris Boardman has designed this machine.

Amazing stuff: It looks like a very slim phone, but it is actually showing a 3D hologram of a car. If you turn your mobile phone around, you can see the car from every angle. One day, you may buy cars this way, just as today you check out the specs on the Website of the car manufacturer!

Can I have that? No, this is not something that is permanently tattooed on your hand. It is actually a clock in your wrist. You don't need a battery it uses natural kinetic energy for power and you never have to set the time because it will use wireless energy to ensure that the time is always right. And wait, there is more the plan is that the numbers will glow when you raise your hand to see the time.

Is it going to rain? While many sites can tell you what the weather is like, this one can actually show you. The mobile phone is actually a translucent piece of glass and if your phone looks like this, you should carry an umbrella. Of course, if it is raining heavily outside, then you will probably have a tough time reading messages on this phone!
