Drop by the NCPA, as they host the best acts in theatre, dance, music and cinema from IIT Bombay's annual cultural festival Mood Indigo 2012-13

Taking forward its dedication to give young artistes from campuses across the city a chance to showcase their work, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), will host a selection of works from Mood Indigo 2012-13, IIT Mumbai's annual cultural festival.

Third Bell was the winner of the one act play competition

The show features top entries across several performing arts at Mood Indigo, including street plays, mono acts, Classical dances, music duets, movies and a collection of sketches and photographs of the winners of the photography and fine arts competitions from the previous editions of the festival.

Aagaaz, a street play

"It's a one-day programme, where we will showcase a selection of the best programmes that were staged at the Mood Indigo festival," says Deepa Gahlot, Head -- Programming (Theatre and Film), NCPA. So, there is the street play Aagaaz, which voices the need for change, and Third Bell, winner of the one act play competition.

Then there are performances by the top two participants of the Classical dance contest, Nrityangan, followed by Swaranjali, which brings the top two competitors of the instrumental duet contest at Mood Indigo. Director's Cut, a special section will screen the top three movies in the film competition, and Framed will be a day-long exhibition of winning photographs and sketches at Mood Indigo.

The show is part of NCPA's efforts to give campus theatre space outside the festival circuit, an addition to the monthly programme Zest, which stages student plays every Tuesday. And while these works may not be of professional standard, Gahlot says that their enthusiasm and ideas makes up for that. "Their writing comes from the heart, without any worry about what will happen. So, it's different from what you see in professional theatre," she adds.
