Experience the monsoons through artworks by Abu Kazi, which are on display at the Bliss Art Gallery, at an exhibition titled NihaaWalk into Bliss Art Gallery, and you will come across twelve paintings that capture the feel of the monsoons in Mumbai. Artist Abdul kader Abu Kazi has portrayed what he sees and feels around him in the monsoon on canvas and these paintings are on display at the exhibition titled Nihaa.
Nihaa, means hidden in Urdu and this exhibition features abstract paintings and landscapes created in acrylic and oil on canvas. Kazi, who is a graduate from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, originally hails from Ratnagiri and this is his third exhibition in Pune.
If you browse through the paintings on display, you will realise that each artwork looks like a photograph. But when you look closer you realise that Kazi has artistically created a realistic version of the subject. The painting of the vehicles on Mumbai roads during the monsoons creatively captures the feel of the monsoon on canvas. Each artwork lets you experience the monsoons in Mumbai.
There is detailing in every painting. "I have tried to capture Mumbai's monsoons in my paintings. The colour scheme used reflects what I experienced during that time. Be it the Gateway of India or the Mumbai traffic, each frame has been created as it was seen when I visited the city,"
says Kazi.
Apart from the monsoon paintings, Kazi also has displayed his abstract paintings. A dual symbolism is what you will experience in these paintings. He leaves some to your imagination, while some he would love to explain.
