If you struggle with acne, eating foods with a low glycemic index may help regulate your blood glucose, which researchers say can decrease the production of oil and lower hormone levels that can contribute to acne.
Last week, health website MyHealthNewsDaily also reported that foods containing high levels of omega-6 fatty acids, distinct from omega-3 fatty acids, increase your risk of pimples and breakouts by boosting oil, or sebum, production.
My HealthNewDaily recommends the following tips for managing acne:
ufffd Replace white bread and pasta with whole grain versions, which are lower on the glycemic index.
ufffd Trim back your consumption of processed foods, which often contain vegetable oils and omega-6 fatty acids.
ufffd Eat more omega-3-rich foods, such as sardines, flaxseeds, and walnuts.
ufffd Reduce your dairy consumption, or try almond or rice milk, and cut back on cheese.
