Peenya, the industrial hub of Bengaluru, will soon house a manufacturing plant starting April 2017, where Apple iPhones will apparently be manufactured. According to a report by The Times of India, Apple is "very serious" about Bengaluru, reveal several sources from the tech giant.
Taiwan-based OEM Wistron is believed to be setting up the facility. Local manufacture will help Apple price its phones competitively as full imports attract 12.5% additional duty.
