A slice of the city that misses the eye

Ghorpade Ghat is one of the city's oldest ghats and is located near the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building. Earlier, this ghat (series of steps leading to the river) had beautiful changing rooms where people would go and change after their bath.

These were built during the Peshwa era by a relatively unknown warrior named Ghorpade. The site is neglected and has a lot of beggars frequenting it and there is a lot of dirt as well. The site used to have beautiful carvings on the walls that had references to the ancient Peshwa times. The Ghat is located exactly below the Nava Pul (bridge) that goes to Shaniwar Wada from Mangala Theatre.

Members of the social organisation Janwani, who work to preserve heritage sites, say that this is one of the places that needs to be given attention as soon as possible.
