New Delhi: Google Maps and YouTube will now work with no Internet connection on your Android devices as the search engine announced the series of lighter apps for the audience I/O conference.

A streamlined approach to offline support is used for YouTube and websites on Chrome. YouTube's feature is a simple archiving tool which allows a user to save a video for offline viewing for up to two days.

The YouTube Offline feature will be available on all Androids with version 4.4 and higher in the near future.

Google Maps will have an offline mode and users will be getting offline data for places along with chosen route, like reviews of locations and open hours. The users will also be getting turn-by-turn directions along the way. Offline Maps will be coming to users "later this year."

Google unveiled the next version of its Android operating system at its annual developer's conference Google I/O. Known as Android 'M', the next iteration of Google's mobile OS will succeed Android Lollipop when it launches later this year.

Google is hoping to provide Android users with what they need at the precise moment they need it without forcing them to hopscotch from one app to another.
