The Chinese are known to enjoy long life spans and typically, most of the credit goes to their cuisine. The health conscious citizens of our city have already caught on to the trend of sipping on Chinese green tea, which is known for its medicinal benefits. To add on to this trend Mainland China is hosting The Longevity Festival with a menu that includes dishes that fuse ancient Chinese wisdom and a balance of ingredients with spices believed to nourish your life and improve its span.

How's it good
"Our main aim is to provide healthy food that tastes good," says Nripendra Chauhan, General Manager, Marketing at Mainland China. Based on the Chinese philosophy of the Yin and Yang, the body needs a balance of both hot and cold energy. Too much of any thing affects a person's system and food is an important medium to balance it. The menu of the Longevity Festival has been well researched by the chefs at the restaurant's chain and has been made such that it harmonises the chi energy of the body, adding a few years to one's life.

According to Chef Ramchandra, apart from the special ingredients, none of the dishes are fried and have been cooked with the technique of pan grilling, with very little oil. A few of the important ingredients specially imported, which are said to boost one's life span when used in the right quantities include ginseng, dan-qui and wolf berries.

Chef's Special
Chef Ramchandra recommends the Longevity Ginseng Soup for starters with ginseng as the special addition in the soup. He also recommends their pan grilled silken tofu to all the tofu fans (tofu being a rich protein source figures on the list). "For vegetarians, I would recommend Mix-Vegetables with Spicy Grape Sauce, for which we prepare a special sauce from red grapes. Our Jasmine Rice cooked with ginger, onion and olive oil is also special with the smell of jasmine making rice-eating a different experience," says chef Ramchandra. For non-vegetarians, there's Chicken with Coriander and Lotus Leaf-wrapped Grilled Fish.
