A new technology, nspired learning, promises to change the way we study
It looks like a somewhat old-fashioned mobile phone, the kind you got rid off as phone companies started
coming up with sleeker devices. But look closer and you will see a revolution that would soon change the
way your kids study.
It's called Nspired Learning and has just been launched in Modern School in the Capital's Barakhamba Road.
Nspired Learning solution
Get inspired
Texas Instruments (TI) has joined hands with Learning Links Foundation to bring this technology to India. The concept is somewhat similar to the concept of digital classrooms that were effectively used in the United States.
"We are moving away from conventional methods of teaching to more technology-enabled interactive methods in India," says Dr Biswadip (Bobby) Mitra, President & Managing Director, Texas Instruments India.
This solution includes teacher interface on the computer and student interface on the handheld devices connected wirelessly.
This enables communication between the teacher and pupils -- discussion, investigation, problem-solving and assessment -- developing an educational environment more conducive to building cognitive skills to better understand abstract concepts.
Smart learning
"I trust that the Nspired Learning solution provided by Texas Instruments will help the students understand interconnections between different topics of maths and sciences," said A.P. Singh, Science teacher at Modern School.
"This will enable them to take learning beyond the classroom to establish real-world connections".
"The move of installing a digital device for learning has been taken after a lot of consideration.
Students these days are tech-savvy and a lot smarter than kids in our times. It would be interesting for students and would encourage a lot of interaction, which is important if education has to be taken to a new level," said Lata Vaidyanathan, principal, Modern school.
The school would get the technology installed in the coming months for classes 8, 9 and 10. Apart from Modern, a total of of 10 schools across the
country are on the list to have it installed.
