Satish Jakatdar, founder of Aashay Film Club, said that the selection process was a tough job. The event also features the Aayam Woman Journalist Award which is given to a film critic or a female journalist. This year, Deepa Gehlot and Dr Shyamala Vanarase will be awarded the same.

"Aayam intends to discuss issues related to women and bring them to the fore through various means. The visual media is very effective in reaching out to people, thus, the idea of hosting the film festival, was implemented'' says Manaswini Prabhune, coordinator of Aayam.
