Tech: Vivo launches selfie-focused V5 Plus, V5 Lite smartphones

Before its launch in the Indian market on January 23, Vivo has officially unveiled the V5 Plus smartphone for buyers and retailers. While V5 Plus is a high-end version of the Vivo family tree, the Chinese smartphone maker has also introduced a low-budget phone with minimum specifications on board.

Some of the features of Vivo V5 Plus has been officially revealed by the company on its website. It is found that one of the major highlights of the smartphone is the dual selfie camera set up. Apart from this, V5 Plus also features an all-metal body that is classy to look at and easy to hold on.

This dual-SIM smartphone runs Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It flaunts a 5.5-inch full-HD screen, 16MP rear camera and LED flash. The dual front camera set up (20MP + 8MP sensors) is a great innovation from Vivo's end that leads to accurate and detailed selfies. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, as well as GPS.

The phone has a 64GB internal memory, which is expandable up to 256GB. The 3160mAh battery of the device also supports quick charging. From Vivo's website it is understood that the phone will be avaiable only in Gold colour variant.

On the other hand, Vivo V5 Lite will be the company's cheapest device. It runs Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, flaunts 5.5-inch HD screen, 13MP rear camera, 16MP front camera with a selfie spotlight feature, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB internal memory, which is expandable up to 128GB. The phone has 3000mAh battery and connectivity options like 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, OTG, FM radio, and GPS. V5 Lite will be available in two colours, namely, Crown Gold and Rose Gold.
