"Some of the facts about mangoes are that they are one of the most popular fruits in the world. Mangoes were first grown in India over 5,000 years ago and mango seeds travelled with people from Asia to the Middle East, East Africa and South America beginning around 300 or 400 AD.

Legend has it that Buddha found tranquillity in a mango grove and even the word Alphonso has a unique mouth watering ring to it," says Jayesh Paranjape from Western Routes, who is one is the organisers of the event.

The tour will also head to the serene and beautiful Ganeshgule beach where you can avail of a home-stay by the beach, enjoy local cuisine and sightseeing around Ratnagiri and Ganpatiphule.

Travellers will be chosen on a first-come-first-serve basis and there will be a nominal fee charged. A maximum of 15 people can participate in the event. People will be given mango dishes that are innovative and can also try some local dishes that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"It will be a fun as well as a good learning experience for people as most of them don't know how mangoes are grown and taken care of. This trip will give an insight into all such things," concludes Paranjape.
