The tension between India and Maldives heightened as numerous celebrities and prominent figures voiced their support for the promotion of tourism to Lakshadweep. Interestingly, this political row has snowballed into a tourism boost as reported by Indian travel companies.

Following PM Modi's recent visit, interest in the pristine archipelago - Lakshadweep has skyrocketed, with Cordelia Cruises experiencing a 2500 percent surge in booking queries.

Over 80,000 guests cruise every year to explore Lakshadweep's marine life and stunning landscapes through Cordelia, significantly boosting the local economy.

"We have observed a 3,400 percent increase in on-platform searches for Lakshadweep ever since the Honourable PM's visit," the MMT posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"This interest in Indian beaches has inspired us to launch a 'Beaches of India' campaign on the platform with offers and discounts to encourage Indian travellers to explore the country's stunning beaches. Keep watching this space!"

Amid the online boycott Maldives campaign, the Delhi-based EaseMyTrip travel company has also opted to halt all flight bookings to the island nation.

This decision comes in response to derogatory remarks made by now-suspended ministers against India and Prime Minister Modi, stemming from his recent visit to Lakshadweep.

Cordelia Cruises is proud to have introduced over 200,000 Indians to the mesmerising islands of Lakshadweep since 2021, significantly contributing to the region's tourism and local economies. We've witnessed a remarkable interest for Lakshadweep cruises, particularly the 4-night and 5-night itineraries from Mumbai, which echoes the public's enthusiasm for exploring this idyllic destination", Jurgen Bailom, President and CEO of Waterways Leisure Tourism Pvt Ltd, Cordelia Cruises.
