Jeeps are passe. Hop onto a yak instead. This is arguably one of the coolest things you could do while holidaying in Sikkim.
Typically organised from Dzongri or near Changu/ Tsomgo Lake, the yak ride is a different thrill altogether. Domesticated for centuries by the Sikkimese, the yaks are supposed to be relatively calm.

It's a peaceful ride that's considered safe for kids too. Certain tour operators organise trails that include three-hour-long yak safaris from Thangu to Phalung, as part of their Sikkim packages.
