Lovers of the king of fruits can savour four varieties of Konkan's mangoes at a unique travelling festival, Aamba Mahotsav

The annual mango festival, Aamba Mahotsav, is back in the city with mangoes from the Konkan.

Take The Poll: Which mango do you like the most?

Organised for the 12th consecutive year, Aamba Mahotsav, will offer mangoes by Konkan's farmers, says Rajendra Tawade, a representative of the Konkan Vikas Pratishthan, the organisation behind the festival. "Mumbaikars can buy all varieties of mangoes produced in the Konkan including the most popular - Devnagari, Ratnagiri and Malwan," he adds.

Each year, the festival is organised at five different venues from April till May. The festival has been hosted at various locations for nine days. After Vile Parle (April 12 to April 20) and Dadar (April 21 to 30), the festival opens today in Thane. Its next destination will be Mulund, after which the festival will conclude in Borivli, informs Tawde.

"This festival offers a marketing platform for farmers from the Konkan region, who can't afford to sell mangoes in Mumbai. Here, every aspect, including the rates are decided by the farmers," he shares.

The festival has a total of 35 stalls, of which 25 stalls sell mangoes, while the rest stock products from the Konkan including masalas, and kokam products, among others.
