Do not ignore the maker's philosophy which plays a key role in a retelling," shares Utkarsh Patel, co-founder, The Mythology Project, as he touches upon the talk-of-the-town, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. On Sunday, Patel will take on the task of revisiting Homer's original text in the session, All you need to know about The Odyssey.
"We will be analysing the original Greek poem, and perhaps touch upon the variations that show up in Nolan's retelling. While it has been retold multiple times, the epic has not changed drastically," he admits.
Even the changes stem from a long tradition. "Bards always choose according to the requirements of their story, the sensibilities of their audience, and their own style. If you look at our own Indian epics, people have chosen to sensitise it according to their needs," he points out.
