The spoken word possesses an architecture of its own, shaped by breath, rhythm, intention and the attentive ear. Speakology, a workshop conducted by seasoned actor and voice artiste Asif Ali Beg, delves into these often-overlooked layers of communication, encouraging participants to cultivate a voice that carries both precision and presence.
Listening takes precedence in this workshop. By relinquishing the impulse to formulate a response while someone else is speaking, participants learn to inhabit the present moment with greater receptivity. This attentiveness lays the groundwork for more authentic expression.

The workshop examines the mechanics of breathing, voice production, tonal variation, modulation and articulation. Its emphasis lies in understanding the body's natural respiratory design before addressing vocal or speech related difficulties. The exploration extends into voice-overs and voice acting, offering valuable insights to educators, English teachers, theatre artistes, public speakers, and anyone keen to refine their vocal presence.
Beg says, "Speakology offers an opportunity to refine not only how you speak, but how you connect. Speech is power, and I intend to use this power to empower people, hopefully making the world a better place."
