>> It starts on the Sunday following September 8, the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, mother of Jesus, at the Mount Mary Church, Bandra. It is believed that Mother Mary was born on September 8, and the festival is celebrated around that time of the year.

>> The Bandra Fair is estimated to be around 300 years old. According to an old legend, the fair started when a statue of Mother Mary was found floating in the Arabian Sea between 1700 and 1760, which a Koli fisherman had dreamt about a few years earlier.

>> Every year Mount Mary Basilica at Bandra celebrates the feast to "Our Lady of the Mount".

>> The festival and shops around the chruch foster a carnival-like atmosphere and are abuzz with shopping stalls, food stalls, street events, games, amusement rides and concerts.

>> Mount Mary Bandra Fair takes place within the Mount Mary Church complex and in the lanes around the church.
