Maharashtra Cyber has issued a fresh summons to rapper and singer Honey Singh, directing him to appear before the investigating officer for questioning on October 16.
A senior Maharashtra Cyber official confirmed that Singh has been summoned for questioning in connection with allegations that he made objectionable remarks during a performance.
Following the alleged remarks, a complainant approached Maharashtra Cyber and lodged a complaint against the singer.
Singh failed to appear before the investigating officer despite being summoned three times earlier. He had cited his inability to attend, claiming he was abroad, sources said.
In an earlier development, Singh had skipped questioning scheduled for October 5 and sought more time to appear before Maharashtra Cyber. The agency had directed him to appear before the investigating officer and record his statement.
The case stems from an FIR registered at Mumbai's Nodal Cyber Police Station and a complaint concerning remarks allegedly made by Singh during a concert in Delhi earlier this year.
Sources said a fresh summons has now been issued, directing Singh to appear for questioning on October 16.
More details are awaited.
