The Oshiwara Police have arrested a 65-year-old man for allegedly sending obscene videos to film actress Poonam Dasgupta. The arrest comes weeks after the actress filed a complaint after allegedly receiving explicit pornographic videos and nude images from an unknown WhatsApp number.

Acting under the guidance of DCP Mohit Kumar Garg, Senior Inspector Sanjay Chauhan, Oshiwara Police Cyber Cell in-charge Sharad Devde and constable Ashok Konde launched an investigation and successfully traced the accused to South Mumbai.

Police said the accused was arrested on Saturday (May 16) from the Catholic Ashram in the Nagpada area, where he was residing and working. Dasgupta commended the police for their swift response, given the gravity of the situation.

Found her via Google search

Police said the accused revealed that he had randomly searched the actress' name on Google, obtained her mobile number, and sent the obscene video to her WhatsApp account. He also admitted to sending similar videos to another actress named Poonam before later uninstalling WhatsApp from his mobile phone.

The case

According to Dasgupta, the incident occurred on April 27. Shocked, she immediately tried calling the number but received no response. She later blocked the sender and informed her husband. She approached Oshiwara police on April 29 and filed a formal complaint.
