With many families travelling for summer vacations, weddings, and holiday outings, the police have urged residents to remain cautious after two alleged burglars, accused of targeting locked homes in Borivali East, were arrested by the Kasturba Marg police.
Investigators claimed the accused carried out housebreakings during the summer holiday period and later travelled across several states using stolen cash and valuables.
The latest case surfaced after a resident of Shivashiv Building in Borivali East complained that unidentified persons had broken into his house between April 21 and April 25 by cutting a window grill. The accused allegedly stole cash worth R1 lakh along with silver valuables.
According to police, the accused conducted a recce during the daytime and returned at night to break into locked houses by sawing window grills.
Following the complaint, a detection team led by PSI Dheeraj Vaikos scanned CCTV footage from the area and identified the suspects. Technical analysis later revealed that the accused were hiding in Navsari, Gujarat, after which a police team travelled there and arrested them.
The investigation was carried out under the guidance of Zone XII DCP Mahesh Chimte and senior officers of Kasturba Marg police station.
