A man was booked in Kalyan in the Thane district for a brutal assault on his two-year-old son. The accused reportedly slammed his son on the floor and scalded his hand with a hot plate. Police officials said that he did this because the toddler used to avoid him at home.
According to PTI, the accused, who has been identified as Rahul Suresh Visale, and his wife Rohini lives in Parnaka in Kalyan West. Both are embroiled in marital disputes, with one matter reaching the court previously, the official added.
As per Rohini's complaint, the accused, at around 11pm on September 13, got enraged when he saw the child avoiding him and slammed him on the floor, the Bazarpeth police station official said.
The official added, "Visale then pressed the child's hand on a hot plate, resulting in three of the child's fingers getting scalded. The accused also assaulted Rohini when she intervened to protect her child. She was hit with a broom," as cited by PTI.
"The couple has been facing marital disputes, and a matter had previously reached the court. The court recently advised Rohini to live with her husband for two months to attempt a reconciliation. Following these directions, Rohini had moved from her parents' home back to her husband's residence at Parnaka," the police officials added.
In her complaint, Rohini said her husband harboured resentment over their past disputes, leading to the brutal assault on both her and their child, the official informed.
However, Visale has been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act but is yet to be arrested.
