The father of the six-year-old boy whose body was found floating in a gutter at Sai Nagar, Kandivli, yesterday blamed a BMC contractor for his son's death.

When Pradeep Kavankar went missing on Saturday from a nearby playground, his father Dinesh filed a missing persons complaint at Kandivli police station that night. But after Pradeep's body was found at 6 pm yesterday, Dinesh believes that his son fell in the gutter because the adjoining wall isn't fully constructed.

"Even though work on the wall began two months ago, it's still not done. If the wall was higher, my son wouldn't have fallen in the gutter. The contractor should be punished," said Dinesh.

Dinesh and several others gathered at the Kandivli police station at 11.15 pm yesterday asking for justice. "If the wall is not fully constructed, there will be more deaths," said Rajesh Desai, an activist.
