26/11 martyr Hemant Karkare's son Akash scored 78 percent in his HSC exmanination. The results were announced today. Akash's mother Kavita says her sonu00a0was determined to take the HSC exams.
It takes a lot of courage to pick up the pieces of your life and move on after a horrific tragedy, but Akash Karkare has done just that. Akash was in Std XII in R A Podar College in the commerce stream when his father, ATS chief Hemant Karkare, was killed by terrorists on November 26, last year. Yet, he determinedly appeared for his HSC board exams earlier this year.

Talking to MiD DAY, Akash's mother Kavita Karkare, said, "It was his self-determination that pushed him to appear for his HSC exams without being deterred by his father's death. Nobody forced him or encouraged him to appear. He convinced himself to take the exams."
Explaining Akash's unwillingness to talk to the media, Kavita said, "He was an introvert earlier too but has become more of an introvert after what has happened to him at such a young age. That is why he is not willing to talk to the media before his results are out. He is ready to accept whatever marks he gets. He didn't even visit the temple before his results, as he is not religious. I am sure he will get good marks and he will be satisfied with them."
On asked whether he has decided on a career, Kavita Karkare said, "He has not yet decided what he will go for. He is keeping his options open. We have also not forced him to choose any particular field."
