On August 31, medical officer of the Vasai Municipal Corporation, Dr Anaya Dev, filed the complaint against the accused, Neeta Jadhav Khobragade, based on a video that was filmed as a sting operation by two local daily reporters and submitted to Dr Dev a few days ago.

In the video recorded by Kailash Rangnekar (35) and Sapna Kharkarodia (28) at Khobragade's Kshitija Clinic, Khobragade is seen selling a single pill for Rs 2,000. She also admits on camera that she had been selling the pills for over nine years, and even claims that she had a 100 per cent success rate.

After Dr Dev received the information, she verified the allegations against the doctor in a preliminary probe and after confirming that Khobragade was not qualified to sell these pills for a profit, approached the police.

Police action
On September 1, the Manikpur police registered an FIR against Khobragade under relevant sections of The Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act and The Medical Termination of Pregnancy Rules 2003.

AC Patil, female sub-inspector at the Manikpur Police station, said, "The offence has been registered against the accused and the investigation is underway. Once the allegations are found to be true, the accused will be arrested and produced in court."
