Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has blamed Congress following the 2008 Malegaon blast case verdict on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters after the court verdict on Thursday, alleged that during the previous regime, "Islamic terror" was frequently invoked, and to counter it, the then United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government coined the term "saffron terror".
On Thursday, a special court in Mumbai acquitted all the seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. The judgment comes after nearly 17 years since the attack was carried out in a Muslim-dominated area.
Following the acquittal of all the seven accused in the Malegaon blast case, the CM Fadnavis said, "Police are not responsible, it is the UPA government which is responsible for this."
Slamming the Congress for indulging in minority votebank appeasement, Fadnavis stated that the party should now apologise to the entire Hindu community.
The case was initially probed by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) before being transferred to the NIA (National Investigation Agency) in 2011.
