Bandra's Carter Road is all set to get swankier.


Bandra's Carter Road is all set to get swankier. Work on a first-of-its-kind, giant chess board, measuring over 24 square feet commenced on Saturday afternoon.

The mega structure, designed by architect P K Das and named after yesteryears actor Nargis Dutt is said to be the brain child of Anandani Thakoor, Chairperson of KBS( Khar-Bandra-Santacruz) Foundation.

"It will be functional and we plan to hold a mega size tournament on it," says Thakoor.

Another KBS member Renuka Tahilani says they plan to construct a giant, solar-powered gazebo, which will double up as a study-cum-recreation centre and a Ganpati pandal for the local Koli community along with eco-friendly windmills to power the projects.

Local corporator Kavita Rodriques, who has been apparently instrumental in coordinating the project with variousu00a0 government agencies, stated that the project was estimated to cost Rs 48 lakh.
