The heavy-end trucks are among the most technologically advanced vehicles available in India and sell at the starting cost of Rs 65 lakh a vehicle.

For firemen, the highlight of the new addition is the air-conditioned driver's cabin and gearless automatic transmission.
"We haven't ever given the drivers a thought, but the new truck will greatly enable them to navigate quickly to where the spot is," said Chief Fire Officer P D Karguppikar.

The trucks can easily navigate up steep gradients. In addition to all this, the truck's tanker can hold 18 kilolitre of water.

The Mumbai fleet currently has 18 fire engines, including the six new additions. The total fleet consists of around 200 vehicles, which serve various functions.
