Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Monday, presented the Rs 6647 crore budget of MMRDA for the year 2016-17.

The highlight of the budget focused on developing and supporting public infrastructure projects. A provision of Rs 500 cr each has been made for the Dahisar-Andheri East and Dahisar-D N Nagar metro line. Rs 1000 crore provision has been made for Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro line III. Rs 341.50 crore provision has been made for the Jacob Circle-Wadala Monorail phase two and Rs 1000 crore for MTHL connecting Sewri with Nhava Sheva. Rs 718 crore has been set aside for MUTP Project and Rs 827 crore has been kept for MUIP Project.

A special provision of Rs 125 crore has been made for the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial that would come up at Indu Mills. Over Rs 170 crore will be spent on buying hybrid buses that will run from BKC to Sion, Bandra and Kurla railway station.

For developing water projects in MMR, Rs 87.52 crore have been set aside. Rs 70 crore provision has been made for developing Wadala TT area and for construction of flyovers and other infrastructure projects, Rs 82 crore-provision has been made. Rs 25.crore provision has been made for Mithi river project and Rs 41.97 crore for developing roads and public infrastructure in MMR. Rs 59.71 crore has been kept aside for Resettlement and Rehabilitation of Project Affected People.
