A three months pregnant woman hanged herself at her Andheri residence on Friday. The DN Nagar police have arrested four people, including her husband and parents-in-law in connection with the case.
Shaheen Shaikh, 20, was found dead at around 12 pm on Friday at her residence in Jamat Khana, Andheri (west). Her husband Tanveer Shaikh, parents-in-law Jameer Shaikh and Mobin Shaikh, and relative Muknar Ahmed Shaikh have been charged for harassment for dowry and abetment of suicide.u00a0
Tanveer and Shaheen had a love marriage on March 25 this year and Shaheen's brother Dr Safulhoda Khan told MiD DAY that Tanveer's family members had been harassing and torturing her for dowry. A day before the incident, Shaheen had informed her sister Parveen that she was kicked in the stomach by her husband and she was in immense pain, he said.
