The principal of Children's Academy, Kandivli finds his knees knocking even today when he comes face-to-face with his school teacherEven though he's now the principal of Children's Academy in Kandivli, Rohit Bhatt has butterflies in his stomach, when he meets science teacher Indra Menon, who taught him in school and is now the vice principal of the school's Malad branch. "When she was my teacher there was respect borne of fear.
Now,u00a0there's respect borne of admiration," says Bhatt as he reminisces on Teachers' Day about his school days. Menon taught Bhatt science in classes 9 and 10. Adds Bhatt, "Menon ma'am was very strict, bent on discipline. Everyone used to be very scared of her, but her teaching methods were excellent."
Menon's credo remains etched on Bhatt's mind till date. "She used to always say, 'Winning is not everything but making an effort to win is everything.' I'm doing the same for my own students now," he says. Bhatt recalls that he has never gifted her more than a rose on Teacher's Day when he was in school. "I was never her pet, but then again she never had any favourites, which only increased my respect for her," adds Bhatt.
Similarly, Menon (54) has fond memories about teaching Bhatt. "I treated him like any other child though he was the school owner's son and neither has he gone out of his way now that he is the boss."
