"In this life, there is a lot to investigate." This line will forever be etched in my memory, being spoken by a man who was a true embodiment of this philosophy the intrepid J Dey, who served the cause of truth in his 20-year-long stint as an investigative reporter. I will no longer see his familiar figure working away quietly at his cubicle.

I draw inspiration from our trip to Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland inu00a0 April last year. The task at hand was to investigate the infiltration of Chinese nationals into Indian territory, through the Arunachal border.
An extraordinarily organised journalist, Dey's inquisitive spirit was insatiable. During the trip, he visited villages, accosted people from different communities, danced at their festivals, investigated animal deaths.

He discovered the modus operandi of local agents, who smuggled Chinese goods into Nagaland's market.
I learnt of the immense courage, passion and humility that J Dey exuded.
"We will return to investigate more," Dey had told me. Our ardent wish, however, will remain unfulfilled forever.u00a0
I will miss you, Sir.
