L ward engineer arrested for bribery

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mumbai, arrested Suyog Shantaram Jakhadi, a junior engineer, who works at the L ward, BMC while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a food stall owner at Kurla on Friday


Earlier, he had accepted Rs 50,000 for retaining the illegal the stall, but later started demanding Rs 4 lakh and even issued a demolition notice.

According to an ACB official, the complainant started a food stall in Kurla (west) in June 2012. In October last year, Jakhadi accepted the first bribe for not issuing a notice to remove the cash counter, which was on the footpath.

Jakhadi later lowered his price to Rs 2.25 lakh, but the stall owner approached the ACB officials. On Friday, the ACB officials caught Jakhadi, who was accepting Rs 1 lakh as an installment for the bribe, red-handed near Lions Gardenu00a0in Kurla.u00a0
