Chheda, through her counsel approached the Bombay High Court bench of Justices Bhushan Gavai and Dr Shalini Phansalkar Joshi, claiming that she had got furlough on April 28 and it was about to end on May 27. She had fallen in her home on May 18 and was admitted in St George's Hospital for pain in the back and right shoulder.

The furlough needs to be extended as she is admitted in the hospital, her legal counsel told the bench. Justice Gavai asked the government pleader to file a reply by checking her medical certificate by Friday.

Earlier in 2015, Jaya had taken extension from Bombay High Court citing that she was admitted in St George's Hospital for a stomach infection.

Chheda, who has been convicted for killing her former husband, Suresh Bhagat, along with her ex-boyfriend and Arun Gawli aide Suhas Roge, is lodged in Yerwada jail.

Bhagat, whose turnover ran into hundreds of crores through his matka business owned several properties and had divorced Jaya in 2005.

Later, the Mumbai Crime Branch found a letter in which Bhagat had claimed he had a threat to life from Chheda and her boyfriend Roge who wanted his property.

The Crime Branch had arrested his son Hitesh Bhagat, Roge, Chheda, Pravin Shetty the driver of the truck, Harish Mandvikar and Kiran Amle in the case and booked them for murder and criminal conspiracy. Chheda had paid R45 lakh to Roge to carry out the murder and show it as an accident.
