Mumbai: Man arrested for molesting woman constable at Worli sea face

In yet another instance of sexual assault on female cops, a 21-year-old man was arrested by the Worli police on Tuesday for allegedly molesting an on-duty woman police constable at Worli sea face

In yet another instance of sexual assault on female cops, a 21-year-old man was arrested by the Worli police on Tuesday for allegedly molesting an on-duty woman police constable at Worli sea face.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the accused is a resident of Nallasopara and is employed with the film industry. It further stated that the victim had only recently joined the police force, and was doing her duty at a religious function in Worli.

A police source informed Mumbai Mirror, "The incident took place between 10 pm and 11pm on Tuesday. The accused had molested the constable while pretending to be in a hurry to get past the crowd. He touched her inappropriately and tried to run away." The woman constable, however, immediately alerted her colleague, who nabbed the man.

The Worli police arrested and registered against him on Wednesday morning under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code. He was later granted bail after being produced in a local court.
